Spouses of 2010 Presidents-Elect

The Purpose of the spouse's program is to aid and encourage understanding, empathy & support for the Rotarian spouses as they undertake the role and responsibilities of a Rotary Club President.

Spouse's Agenda

How do we intend to do that?

  • Informative breakout sessions will enable spouses/partners to learn more about the important role he or she plays as the partner of a Rotary club president.

  • There will be fantastic fellowship and outstanding speakers, workshops, and a service project.

  • Basic Rotary information will be provided, realizing that many spouses have limited exposure to Rotary and its programs.

  • However, since a growing number of spouses are themselves Rotarians and/or are male, careful consideration is being used to ensure that the programs will be of interest for all in attendance.

  • The use of break out groups, group discussions, theatrical performances, an interactive service project vs. passive, and video presentations are all a part of an effort to not only keep the attention of those in attendance but touch their hearts and minds as well.

  • To encourage spouse attendance at P.E.T.S. the committee is inviting all of the spouses of all incoming Presidents to join their Rotary partner at the 2010 Lone Star P.E.T.S.

  • Through Rotary programs that naturally involve the spouse such as the family of Rotary, the Ambassadorial program, Club fellowship and the Youth Exchange student program.

  • By bringing highly skilled and entertaining speakers to the spouse's program. Jean Irwin has already been confirmed as one of the speakers plus plans include a presentation from Past R.I. Pres., Cliff Dochterman.

  • By utilizing Group Discussion Topics such as:

    • What do you see as your role and responsibilities as the spouse of a Rotary Club President?

    • The Role of Rotary in your community

    • Goals for your year as the spouse of a Rotary Club President

    • In sickness and in health, “Married to a Rotarian” What does that mean to you?
